Re:   Speed-bumps

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Travers:

The Association of Cascade Woodlands (CWLOA) has received and reviewed the notice you provided on May 15, 2023 in regard to the placement of speed-bumps along Greenwater Drive.

As you are aware the private Easement is owned by all of the residents along Greenwater Drive, the road maintenance is maintained by CWLOA. At this time CWLOA is not interested in pursuing the placement of any speed-bumps. This subject has been proposed and denied in the past after feedback from Local Fire Department and Lewis County Sheriff Office who acknowledged speed-bumps can cause a significant delay in the response time. The additional 20-30 seconds per speed bump is crucial when dealing with a life-or-death situation.

We however do understand and appreciate the attempt to remedy any residents or guests going over the “suggested” speed limit. With the new gate system, we now have the ability to provide a message to anyone entering into the gate and have since included a message as a reminder to anyone entering to please follow the “suggested” speed limit to 20mph.

If you chose to proceed, please be advised that you are potentially creating a liability for yourself, and any others involved without a unanimous agreement in place that includes CWLOA members.  Cascade Woodlands will NOT assume any liability for the construction or destruction of speed-bumps and any damage resulting to the existing roadway.

Thank you for your understanding!
